Default Introduction

I’ve noticed that my tendency to write the essays or begin the threads that have punctuated my presence on Soma Simple hasn’t allowed me to contribute the brief thoughts that run through my head in the clinic and elsewhere in my life. “Too short,” I’d think, “Undeveloped with no obvious clinical connection or decent references,” or, most commonly, “Too edgy.”

This internal dialogue has kept me quiet too often, and when I don’t write, I don’t think all that well. No more.

Range of Motion will be a daily feature in Barrett’s Forums – beginning tomorrow.

Looking forward to that!

"Edgy" is hard to do well. It takes a particular balance of talent, experience and wry sense of humor.

Early Letterman comes to mind.

You've earned it.

Love to read your stuff Barrett....gets me thinking. Even if I go off on some tangent somewhere, at least I'm thinking. Love that. :clap1:

Always hope that my tangents or comments aren't too off as to offend...but I can take re-direction/correction and blatently "edgy" retorts, so whatever.

Also, encourages me to write my thoughts. Believe me (and be it "good" or "bad"), if it wasn't for your and others' writings/musings...I would not think myself free to share my poetry, my story about a bird, or my patient stories.....probably would stick to some dry researchy-type talk and curtailed questioning that renders me and any readers sleeping before a point could be made or lesson well learned.

You help forward the human connection, and my ailing hippocampus really needs the less "declarative" expressions to get stuff in my head in a meaningful way, I've found. That is until I figure out how to do that on my own......

In thanks,

This thread -and SS itself- reminds me of the psychologist Gendlin, that I just discovered.
He talks about Thinking at the edge.
As a young woman I stumbled upon meditation, while trying very hard to think at the edge.
The chasm - the edge- whatever we might call it, is maybe inside of us. And the daily (sometimes momentarily) jumps across that chasm, creates us, or what we believe we are...:note::love:
